The new G8 GXP is mechanically similar (6.0 liter V8 with 6 speed stick available), but a sedan. Better looking though.

With GM is finances being what they are, l would not expect a new version of a car that was not a good seller. If you're a GM fan and you want something along those lines (a fast coupe), the new Camaro is what you want.

They have already changed the design into something that will sell better. They turned it into a sedan to help improve sales. The new model is the G8 sedan.

No, the GTO wo not be coming back. Pontiac is most likely going to be reduced to a ''specialty'' vehicle line like the G8 and Solstice.

GMC is not going anywhere, Buick is not going anywhere due to their outstanding sales overseas. Saturn(unfortunately) and Saab will most likely go and Pontiac is lineup will be reduced.

Actually GM is very close to dumping the Pontiac line of cars because of poor quality control and dismal sales. The only car that has made sales is the Solstice and that is beset by quality control problems.
l would not expect to see GM putting much energy into the Pontiac line of cars.
