l just wanted to know if my 93 grand prix carries a timing chain or belt? and if so would this cause my car to drive and then die if the belt/chain is broken? it was driving fine then it died on the road, the gas tank is full and the alternator is fine. what would cause my car to simply die while l was driving, everything shut down power steering and all. l tried to restart but it cranks over but not enough to get it stable. could it be a faulty ignition pack, crank sensor or worse???

look up car at advance/auto zone.it will list belt or chain
2 make sure battery has 12.5+ volts.less messes up computer
3 not stable? runs sort of? check cap and rotor if so equipped

most likely a coil bad if it just died and wil not crank try pulling a spark plug and stick it back into end of wire lay on something medal have someone crank it over to see if there is a spark if no spark check coil also if you bump it over til rotor botton under cap is to number on eplug and check timing mark on front of motor if its not in line with mark then its out of time

The 4 cylinder has a belt, the 6 cylinder has a chain. If either are broke the engine will not fire at all.

Timing chain,but it last a very long time,crank sensor is more likely than all mentioned.
