l have a 99 Grand Prix GTP that has been wrecked that l have considered taking the engine out of and putting into another car. It has the standard 3800 Supercharged engine that the GTPs have. When l bought the car 2 years ago it only had 50,000 miles on it and now it has only 70,000..so it would be a shame to let it go to waste. The body of the car is going to cost alot to fix, probably more than the car is worth. l have considered buying another Grand Prix, but l would like to know if it would be possible to put it in a Grand Am around the same year (99-2002 or whatnot). l may have found a Grand Am with a bad engine that l could use. Thanks in advance!!

If you were a professional I'd say go for it.
The Grand Am was not made to accomadate the size or weight of the 3800 much less the supercharged version 3800.
Buy another Gran Prix or the Olds. 88/98 or Buick regal body for that great engine.
Get your motor running!

l have a grand am 3.4 99 and my homie has a malibu 3.1 99 which he swap a 3800 supercharged engine into, a grand am has more space so it should fit fine, you could look at this page for more info about the swap

if you dont want any problems down the road. l would not do it. The Gran Am never came with that motor in it stock. so why take the risk. The Grand Am was never built for that motor, or they would have put one in it stock..Think about it. :>)
