l have a 2000 firebird. l know that I am due for a tune up soon, as well as some other repairs and maintenance (Such as new wiring, and fuse), but today when l switched on my lights, l could only get one to come up. It is been happening.

Now l suspect it might have something to do with the need for new wiring, but l keep hearing squeaks and odd sounds when l attempt to turn the lights on. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? Is there a quick solution?

What does go bad is the shitty plastic gears that spin the headlights up and down.

Just google 'firebird brass headlight gears' and you will get what you need.

Car wiring do not wear out and do not need replacing. The only wires you should need to replace are your spark plug wires.

Fuses do not wear out they only blow when overloaded or short to ground happens.

Your light prob is what the other person said. The crappy, cheap plastic gears. Very common prob on 82-02 firebirds. TDS along with other companies makes metal/brass gears to replace those plastic junk ones.
