l was looking into stroking out my 350 to a 383.l have a Flowmaster cat-back and SLP cold air.How much would a kit run me, where can l find good ones and what other parts would you recommend to go along with it?

Q: What happens to the compression ratio when u stroke a motor?

A: Stroking usually involves increasing the cubic inches. The compression ratio will go up. Compression ratio is the ratio of the cylinder & head volume with the piston at Top Dead Center (TDC) to the total volume at Bottom Dead Center (BDC). Since the piston is moving down further at BDC, but returning to the same position at TDC, the swept cylinder volume increases while the volume at TDC remains the same. Hence, the compression ratio increases.

Figure about $700 for pistons, rings, bearings, cam, gaskets, oil pump, etc

$225 for crank

$250 for machine work (hot tank, bore & hone, etc)

Now thats just the basic parts along.. You will need headers, bigger fuel injetors, the stock TP l unit will be a bottle neck & choke it, You will need a custom chip burnt for the ECU. You will need better valve springs to handle the new cam.

The heads may need a valve job
