The car l bought only came with one key and l wanna get another made. Does anyone know if the keys are coded? If they are not then l can go anywhere to get one made. But if the keys are coded then l also need to know where l need to go to be able to get another key, and approximately how much.
l do not know if it is in the book or not, but either way it does not help me since the previous owners took it out of the car.

The car was previously owned as a company car and they lost the other key as well as the key fob for the keyless entry....which really sucks.

l bought it from a used car lot full of retards. They were telling me that if l can not see a chip on the key that l can run to the local hardware store and get another copy. And they did not know what l was talking about when l asked if the key was coded.

Im not really sure but you can always go to the hardware store and have them make a copy and see if it works. If it is coded you will probably need to get it copied at the dealership which will probably cost you quite a bit more. l was going to have a coded key copied once and it was around $50.

these keys need to be made by a dealer it is pretty cheap 5 or 10 bucks is all just go to a gm dealer.

Believe it or not, many cars produced after 2002 have chip encoded ignition keys. These keys can be reproduced but on the costly side. l do not have a cost effective cure for this problem..On another note, why did the old owner keep the other key? Sounds suspicious to me.

Yes, it does have a chip. l have the same car and l only have one key because l have yet to spit out $50.00 for a copied key.

You will have to go to a GM Dealership to get it copied. Hardware stores and whatnot can not do it. And yes, unfortunely they do run about $50.00.
