l have a 2004 pontiac sunfire and need to change the speed sensor where is that located so l know where to go to change it

If it is a wheel speed sensor it will be on the wheel at fault and part of the hub bearing. The VSS is on the passenger side of the tramsmission on the final drive housing

You will need a obd-I l (scanner)to clear the code..for 95' upto 2008 and its no time to change it so l would take it to the mechanic.Those sensors are located on the transmisson.A wheel speed sensor comes on the hub-bearings back side.

as the last guy said it is best to take to a mechanic shop if it is the speed sensor on the tranny it is simple to change if it is an abs speed sensor then take it to a shop l am haveing same prob with mine it is an 02 grand prix if it is the abs speed senso then u will have to change the wheel hub cause it is molded in to the hub that is about $60-$80 also to change that u have to take off wheel,callipers,pull ur wheel shaft out & there will be 3 bolts on the back & u take those out & put on new hub & put back together total time should be about 3-4 hours if u know what u r doing.

There are five speed sensors. There are four in every wheel area sensing wheel speed and the transmission has one at the end of the right side of it. Which one?
