my dad isnt home and l need pictures of the engine for my art work, l cant find the lever either
any ideas?

should be on under the steering wheel to the left.

The hood release is under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel. Pull that to pop the hood. Then, reach your fingers under the foward edge of the hood near the center and feel around. You will a small lever that is the hood latch. Depress it by pushing up on it (towards the hood) and the hood will now open.

*edit* InjunRAIV is right, l had not been thinking about first- and second-gen Firebirds (all of mine were thirdgens, lol). Give InjunRAIV the points.

Depends on the year. The other are good for '82 and newer. Before that, there is a release in the center of the front bumper. In the first generation, there is a lever in the grille area.
