Nope, it is the GM code used to order the improved suspension package. l had an '83 Trans Am with the WS6 suspension, and it was not a six speed.

WS 6

is a build code , is a catalog code for ordering & packaging items for different cars..

Firebird & T/A suspenion & handing packages started at WS 2 on the 1975 model & grew to the WS 6 on the 1977 model were they added better brakes for the T/A & Black Bird models.

Codes / RPO is Went like this WS 2, WS 4, WS 5, WS6

Side note the package was so popular it became almost a nameplate for a Pontiac rear wheel drive car.

Chevy is examples r Z16, Z21, Z27, Z28 (added engine package to susp & brakes) Z06

It was an RPO. NONE of the RPO is stand for anything. If anybody tells you that an RPO stands for something, slap them.

To clarify, WS6 came out in 1978. It was initially just a handling package. It continued in use as a handling package for many years.

When the aftermarket Ram Air 4th gens were popular, somebody decided to pull them under the company umbrella and call that a WS6. Using that name was a nostalgia move.

WS6 was a option code on Firebirds/Trans-Am for a handling package. l had a 78 Trans Am. The WS6 package included stiffer anti-sway bars, wider wheel rims, quicker steering gear box and slightly stiffer rear springs. All these changes made for a better handling car The WS6 option was always a handling option package in Pontiacs.

LOL, WS came after LS. Seriously, do people just make stuff up?

WS6 is just an RPO (Regular Production Option) code. Not meant to be an acronym.
