l am looking for a sporty car and to be honest l just test drove a 97 grand am and l did not really like it but l need a reliable vehicle so l was wondering if you know how good that year is and if you liked it did not like it or experienced a lot of problems.Any comments would be greatly appreciated thank you !!!

BTW they are selling it for 3500.00 and l know that is a lot but it only has 70,000 miles on it which for that year is decent but to me they are really charging to much for it i'm trying to offer the guy 3000.00 but still for something l do not even like do you think l should settle??
Any advice would be great should l buy or look for something l truly want?

Buying a car that you do not like is like marrying someone that you do not like; you will never be satisfied. Keep looking til you find a car that you do like in your price range.

If you're not feeling it, do not get it. l have a grand am that is a few years older; when l took it for a test drive, l was not blown away but it was a good deal & l needed a car with better gas mileage than my truck. So far l have had to put more money into it than I've spent on myself (starter, gas pump, electronic security thing in the ignition which will allow it to start, just to name a few; & l need to replace the motor in both my windows because neither of them will roll down). It sucks & l wish l would have waited for that car that just WOWed me instead of settling for a ''good deal.''

You do not like it and it is not a reliable car on the whole.

Go for it, if you think this is a tough decision.

l have owned 2 Grand Ams The 1st was a 1996 GT. l loved it untill it got app 70,000 miles on it. l spent more time waiting for it to get repaired than l did driveing it. The 2nd was a 2000 SE. l paid $3000 for it & after 80,000 miles it too started costing me big bucks in repairs. To list a few problems l encountered. Wheel bearings, power window regulator,key would not come out of ingition,lights would not turn off,fuel gauge always on full, A/C stopped working..now the big buck items..intake gasket leaking anti freeze into the engine..hearter core shot..front breaks & rotors gone after 2000 miles. Need l to say l will never own a Pontiac again.
